I've seen the Nanoray series on the Yonex website and I think it's in the UK now so I was asking, is it good?

I haven't played with them (head-light isn't my cup of tea anyway) but they certainly look awesome design-wise!

As you might know, they'll replace the Nanospeed series just like Voltric does with the Armortecs. But I don't think that these are the real high-end ones, 700RP and FX are more like Voltric 70 or Armortec 800, so if you want the top model you probably have to wait a little longer.

Nanoray are due in UK very soon. They will be the successor to Nanospeed range so expect a changeover in 2012.

At the moment I'm not entirely sure what the difference in these ranges is going to be. I understand there is an element of frame construction to the the advances in composite materials etc but that's as much as I know.

Expect more Nanoray's to be launched next year because we certainly haven't seen the top of the range yet. If you follow Yonex normal intyroductions on racquets, they always begin with a racquet with the number 7. So the 700 are the current top of the range, but I'll bet there will be 800 or 900's next year as well as the beginner range.

Yonex have way too many racquets at the moment and need to reduce this next year. This will partially happen with the withdrawal of Armortec and Nanospeed ranges from UK catalogue and i wouldn't be surprised if we also see a few changes in the Arcsaber range.

We had a Yonex rep come down to our club night, so had a play with the nanoray 700 RP. A nice racket very fast through the air, took a bit of time to adjust, In my second game I found it was very good in flat rallies & drives. I liked the racket

Thanks for that. Hopefully I'll have my hands on the Nanoray series within the next week and then I'll be testing.

It may be a while before I put the reviews onto the blog. i'm getting bothered the blog is becoming a racquet review site rather than a coaching site. I have 6 coaching articles to write and these really need to have priority over racquet reviews. Bear in mind I recently tested Arcsaber 009DX, 003 and 002 so I already have these reviews to release. In addition, I tested Victor Meteor 80 so that's 4 reviews to fit in. I may just release them in one lot so that I can stick with the coaching articles.

I'm going to begin a thread to find out which coaching articles players would wish to see. I'l also going to release some coaching footage from Lilleshall.

Sounds to me that it's pretty much the same racket that it's replacing and probably is, just re-branded and freshened up. I would be really annoyed if Yonex used this tactic with their strings!

Of course you can't expect newer racquets to be 10 times better than the old ones, but Yonex has to make some money I guess. Besides, I still believe there's always some slight improvement, performance-wise and certainly design-wise (YY racquets always look so tempting lol).

I'm really looking forward to your review of MX80 Paul, from what I've heard it must be an awesome racquet!

Peter

I can guarantee that BG80 Power is significantly better than BG80 – I've tested it.

With regard to MX80, I'll launch the review this week and this will probably be my last racquet review for a few weeks as I concentrate on articles.

Chances are I'm going to upload some video footage from Lilleshall, especially the coaching elements even if the sound isn't as perfect as I'd like it.
