When skipping, begin with two feet. Focus on getting the hands working properly first, whic hmeans arms low and turn your wrists rather than turn your arms.

When this seems easy, two hops right leg, two hops left leg. Then alternate hops and build your speed . Focus on the lightness of your steps rather than speed initially and build from there.

Net shots

Yes, there are a number of thoughts regarding how to play them. I've seen Peter Rasmussen's and Zhao's videos on net shots. If you watch players at the net, they make the shot look effortless. I didn't quite get what Peter was saying because I've always been shown the combination of arm and wrist depending on where you're playing the shot too and from.

The wrist has to play a part if you want deception in your game, otherwise you're telegraphing what you are about to play.

Thanks a lot for the skipping rope tips! I'm glad you emphasized those points on the keeping the wrist moving and not the arm, I can see how that would be much more beneficial. Same with lightness of steps rather than speed. I've been doing both incorrectly!

That makes a lot of sense regarding the net shot as the wrist is what enables deception in the shot. I also found it kind of weird the way Peter described it as I always see players do different things at different lengths away from the net and whether they're moving head on straight towards the bird or coming at it diagonally.

Thanks a lot Paul!

Chris
