Hi, I am CJ from Orkney,

I have recently returned to playing social badminton after a long lay off and a having a few children. I play social badminton twice a week, The standard is not high with a couple of club standard players and one ex county. In my teens ( a very long time ago, I played a reasonable club standard and the (very) occassional county

I am naturally a mixed double player, preferring to defend and attack the net, however with very few strong male players, I don't really get to play the game I like and am having to learn (at a grand old age) to play differently. My clearance from the back is not bad though my back hand from the back of the court stinks just now. I am still pretty nimble around the court but I am not playing any particularly fast players so I may be deceiving myself a bit there. Smile My short serve is still and always was my best shot.

I haven't bought a racquet in a long long time and mine is a bit sad so I will be moving over to the racquet section now to get some advice.

Welcome to the fourm. I would strongly recommend that you get new strings and grip on your racket before you think about getting a new one. Why? If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Strings are probably knackered, especially if you haven't played for so long.

You could spend a lot of time and money trying to find a new racket (which will probably be to the same spec as your current racket!), but why bother if your happy with your racket and its not broken? Just needs an MOT I expect, you liked the racket before you stopped. What's changed since then?

Just my 2p. Its all in your mind lol

What do you have at the moment?
