Hi all,

I'm Chen and I play badminton to local league standard in Staffordshire.  I found Paul's website only this year and have signed on to the weekend course in September which I'm very much looking forward to.

Looking around the forum, I can see lots of discussions around coaching and to be honest, if you had asked me a year ago whether I'd be interested in receiving coaching, I'm sure I'd have said no.  I was in the 'I'm just happy to play' boat.  What changed?  The turning point for me was going to the All England Final this year at the NEC.  After watching these top players play, I felt inspired to see whether I can get better or at least not get any worse as the years wear on (I'm in my mid 30's).

It's funny, I've been playing badminton since school and I've never been as fascinated about the sport and eager to learn as I have this year.  I hope to learn from Paul and everyone else on this forum and to be able to share my thoughts too.

Chen.

Hi Chen

yes we've spoken and I'm delighted you have joined the forum. This is certainly a players forum but you only get something good out of it by putting something in, whether a question or comment.

I'm looking forward to meeting you in September and helping you achieve some amazing results. It's going to be a fun and yet tough course. Anybody who's been on my course will not recognise what I am doing on it this time.

Hi Chen, welcome to the forum. There is definately a wealth of knowledge here other forums lack which is why i love it.

You will definately enjoy Pauls coaching weekend. I was at the 1st 3!! and everyone was different all getting better each time.

You definately have scope to get better. I am 27 now and still improving each year althou at times I wonder lol. I have played against many others older than myself and even older than you who can destroy me in doubles so I know there is room for improvement!

Good luck and enjoy the forum

I'm still adding more material into September weekend. Without doubt it will be the most challenging to deliver and the most challenging the players have ever been on. This weekend will test technical skills of all of us. Even I'm getting worried with my limited practice that I can pull off some of the demonstrations!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

Sounds great Paul and I'm really looking forward to it… I'd better get some extra practice in between now and then!

Chen.
