The advantage of a lightweight racket is that your defence and shots around the net tend to be quicker.

the disadvantage of a lightweight racket is for many, there is a lack of power, lack of muscle in power shots which means that your opponent is more able to return them. Of course this is a generality. A player with natural power will be able to generate a lot of power with a lighter racket through speed, whereas the heavier racket with have a greater force behind it but moving at a slightly slower pace.

I hope this helps.

Paul

AS you would expect Paul is spot on with his racket assessment.
I notice that you have posted in the beginners forum so have you much badminton experience.
Given the high price that some rackets are, Paul, and many others on this forum, always recommend to try before you buy or you may be heading for an expensive mistake.
If you are relatively inexperienced I would suggest that you look for an even balance for a light racket as head light will not generate sufficient power.

Good Luck

Roger
