Hello!

I am in search of some ideas . . . playing mens doubles, partner serves short, opposition push long to my backhand (assuming all right handers). I tend to backhand clear down the line or drop to the centre. Does anyone do anything different? I feel I am getting predictable but don’t want to changes for change’s sake.

Look forward to some inspirational answers!!

Cheers, Keith

In this situation, I have more shots to play, but putting a drop in the middle isnt one of them
I prefer putting a backhand drop to the backhand side of the opposition, doing a backhand clear long line, hitting hard parallel to the net long line.
Other possibilities depending on the level you are playing are smashing at the chest of the net player, hitting a backhand diagonal clear, these latter two are riskier but sometimes doing something different is good.
Hope it helps
Roger

If the standard return of serve tends to be high to your backhand, try to anticipate it sooner and play ” round the head ” instead of backhand.

This will give you stronger shots and more variation.

Hope this helps

Roger
