Hi all,
A new year, I though new post Cool (happy new year all of you, wherever you are on this planet).
Watched the Dubai SuperSeries finals, and the XD final was the Adcocks against team China. By now they must be world known for flick serving all the time. I’m no coach, but if youth ask me advice (I’m always careful in advice) I tell them to think during the match. What works for scoring points, keep on doing that. As soon as whatever you do no longer works to score points, stop doing it (so often) and try something else. In the above final game, I got quite frustrating Gaby kept on flick serving while (like the commentators mentioned) she didn’t score 1 single point with that flick serve. On such a high level of play, why would you keep on doing what obviously doesn’t work? Why didn’t their coaches advice for a change in tactics? Easy for me to say, but twice 21/12, it looked like a waste of time that match, didn’t it?

This is a topic which has received a lot of debate on my Facebook page.

Gabby Adcock cannot serve low and this is why she flicks. This is a long-standing problem which the coaches, support staff and Gabby herself appear to have buried rather than tackled. It’s a poor show but nothing anyone can do until the player get’s a grip and ends this ridiculous situation.
