Something nice happened today. I played singles again after avoiding them for a period (since I got nowhere in singles).
I had to play somebody my parter lost against in straight games last time. Well, I won. In 3 games (it seems I just cannot win in 2 games), but still I won. First set was clearly (21-9), 2nd was close, 3rd was 21-15. I was happy like a kid.
But most of all, I was able to focus on my game. Don't know why, I didn't do anything special. It looked like this time I was able to control the stress. He adjusted his game throughout the match (which is why I lost the 2nd), but I managed to follow, and adjust my game too. My drops just worked, I used straight smashes down the line and they worked. On one occasion, he returned a smash of mine, and I was able to kill it at the net. Never been able to do this before. Looks like my speed arround the court has gained (at my age !). This really boosted my confidence again. Next one, please !
Cheers ED
