Thanks for sending this in. It takes a lot of courage to allow others to watch a video of you, especially when you lose. However, you can only gain by doing this because you get lots of good feedback.
Because you’ve taken the trouble to send this in, I will send you an email detailing my thoughts unless you’d rather me comment on the forum?
Well done Dory and thank you again for your super contribution to this forum. That’s what it’s for!

As you know, I’ve sent my thoughts to you by email. However, I will share them here too so that others can learn from your video footage.
Bear in mind I’ve only had one run through and would usually spend more time studying before passing comment.
I’m currently in the middle of editing my first video racquet review so need to spend more time on this.
Let’s help you a little as there are some glaring mistakes which need addressing.
Mixed doubles
1) Watch the game again. Note that there is very little use of the net. It’s almost an obstacle to hit over. Get your partner to block the shots so the shuttle drops just over the net. This will get the lift for you whereas at the moment there is a lot of pushes and drives and both pairs are leaving the net area wide open.
2) You need to decide how you are going to attack a low serve. Are you going to fully commit and stay in for a return? If so, work out with your partner what she needs to do to cover you and what shots she needs to play to get back into her net area. If you are trying to get out again, then you need to consider different returns so the opponent is unable to lift over you and cause a problem.
3) You need to practice returning serve at your opponents rather than just using the side lines as this may force a weak block to the net for you to finish the rally.
Singles
1) Your serve is way too loose. You need to take more time in preparation.
2) With regard to the construction of the rally, you are missing a few key elements to your game here. First of all you are trying to win the rally with every shot. Because of this, you are wasting a lot of energy trying for perfection and making mistakes. Second you do not seem to have a game plan, you are just responding to given situations. Looking at your opponent, he does not seem a powerful player and is not a particular good mover to the rear court. Therefore, the first thing you can try is to command the net, lure him forward and get the shuttle past him. You can also try more concentrated attacks into one corner and see how he copes with that.
