I will start again on Wednesday as it means my rest day is Saturday which is better for me as saturday is busy day and getting time to eat early on is hard so perfect for a rest day.

2 half weeks to go and am finished insanity, then onto Insanity Asylum which im told is hard but shorter which will be great!!

Day 42 – Max Cardio Conditioning (47 mins) – Thursday 26th September

I almost gave up the whole program but i did this workout today. It was tough and i struggled. Im over the flu now but not 100% as this workout showed me.I just couldnt keep pushing. Found it hard

I tried to do Insane Abs but I had nothing left in the tank. I could even hold the legs off the ground (6inches) for more than 10 secs and the rest of the moves involved this with another movement so I just stopped here. No point killing myself so this cold comes back again.

til tomoro my friends

Day 43 – Core Cardio & balance (37 mins) – Friday 27th September

This was a nice pleasant surprise. They have throw in an extra easy recovery workout this week and next which is nice. This one still left me sweating but at 37 mins long, it was easy and the cardio wasnt as intense.

Tomorrow is rest day and we go back hard agin Sunday to Tuesday. We also have a fit test on Sunday.

BONUS – 2/3 hours of badminton tonight in the local university. This is usually quite good and good standard of games. 1st night back after off season

Glad to see you've recovered and getting back on track.

This has been a very interesting topic as you are measuring the changes in the performance of your body.

When you get to the “past it” age like me, waking up pain free is nice. How long this will last is anyone's guess. Could exercise help? I'm sure it can, however I haven't got the ability to trade the time right now to do what's right.

Well done Phil and I hope you're noticing the difference on court too. I'd be interested in hearing the on court difference in terms of speed to the shuttle, reflexes, recovery, endurance.

Along with Paul I'd like to know the difference on court ( or are you too knackered to play at the top of your game yet).

I'm also interested to know if you have changed your diet since entering the regime.

As always well done and good luck

Well my 1st real test was last night. Any time I played good doubles before for good length of time, I was getting tired but last night althou I was working, i was fine. The badminton is no where near as hard as Insanity!! Its a walk in the park compared to it.

I believe my speed on court is the same althou am working on it. But my indurance and power have def increased. My smash power has improved! and recovery is easier i think. When I did my last Insanity workout, I always where a heart rate monitor and when we rested for the stretch, I heart rate fell very fast!

So am happy.

My diet has changed a fair amount. Because I did this before, I was used to it and I had fallen away a small bit but getting back to 5 meals a day of good clean food doesnt bother me. I aint looked overly much at calorie intake for few weeks but before this was trying to get 2500 calories and I was losing fat, stayed same weight thou 🙂 and still had pile of energy.

Day 45 – Fit Test & Max Interval Circuit (125 mins) – Sunday 29th September

Felt good on my fit test and improved on most of my numbers although went back on a few. This however wrecked me for the next 1hour workout!! I was so drained during this 1, really was wrecked but kept going although I wanted to quit.

No more double workouts now for me with the rest of Insanity. less than 2 weeks to go. I believe I have 8 hard workouts left to go so the home straight. I just want to finish it

But have Insanity Asylum next. I believe its hard but less time so good!!

On badminton front been asked to play in the Ulster Division 2 with my Coleraine and district team. I may only be a sub, am not sure yet but this was my goal last year to get on this team so very happy!! In Northern Ireland, if you want to play against the best here, you have to play in the Ulster league.
