Is it not possible to follow the grommets? Most rackets astrre the standard stringing pattern and if it differs slightly you can see what to do as small grommet will be for one string and bigger grommets for two strings (this theory is mainly for newer rackets as most old rackets have big ish grommets all the way round). So when doing the mains, sometimes the last two strings will go into different numbered grommets, but it’s easy to work out. Just study the racket and you should be able to see that if you used such and such grommet then the pattern wouldn’t work at all.

Talking of old rackets, another thing that you generally can’t do with newer rackets is replace a single string if it broke. This is due to smaller grommets used for the main part of the across strings. Never have been a fan of single string replacement anyway but just thought I’d mention it as you are a new ish stringer.

If all fails you could try contacting Ashaway and see if they would tell you. It’s a easy mistake to do but checking stringing pattern (and maybe photocopying it) BEFORE cutting the old strings out helps a bit.

You learn as you go along! lol

Hope this helps.

The guy who gave me the racket had already cut all the strings out, I'm trying to get into the habit of following the proper string patterns.

Looking at it, it does look pretty standard so I'll just try and follow the grommets.

Thanks

Simon
See if you can find pictures of the racquet because you can map the pattern from a finished picture.
