I have seen these in action but only on video. I suppose there are pros and cons for such devices. I investigated buying the black Knight Trainer but at around £5000 it was was too expensive. Also whilst I apprecaite how accurate these machines are, they are not a complete replacement for a coach or professional feeder as they are unable to throw in the odd random shot to catch a player off guard.
They look very useful to train the eye and hands to return powerful smashes and this is something I would use one for. Bear in mind they generally perform one shot and repeat rather than a number of shots in a cycle so there are severe limitations. That said I like the idea of one.
I've no idea about setting up time on these and of course there is transportation and storage to consider too.
Overall I think they are a useful tool when used correctly but they are not a substitute for good stroke feeding by a coach.

Paul,
I also think these machines are not better then a professional feeder. My expectation is that they are helpful if I don't have a feeder and want to practice some shots myself, for example net shots, drops or smashes. I think that mastering a shot (or any skill) would only come from repetition and correction by a more experienced player (or a coach if you are lucky enough to have one).
However the price is simply too expensive to be affordable.
