Hi,

I currently wear Yonex SHB 85 and from time to time I wish they could be more grippy. Does someone here have experience with Asics shoes? They seem to have good reputation of good grip/traction due to Asics Wet grip rubber technology and seem popular among squash players.

I have heard many good things about Asics shoes although haven’t personally tested them. I used the old SHB85 and thought they were a nice shoe. That said the grip is OK for most floors but not all.

Asics tend to be recommended because they have a wider fit. The general gripe with Yonex shoes revolves around the fitting and not the grip.

As with any equipment in our beloved game, it’s a personal choice and shoes should be treated the same way. I’ve not heard any negative comments about Asics shoes, only good so perhaps they are worth a try.

Good luck

Paul

I got a pair of Asic Gel Blade 4 and tried it last night. Compared to SHB85, the feel is more “flat” and more grippy. It’s also more comfortable. SHB85 feels more bouncy. For my style of play (I don’t jump much) and the floor of our club, Asics seems a more suitable choice.

Asic Gel shoes have a great reputation. I haven’t tested them but know of so many players that will testify to their quality.
