These are now coming to the end of there life. I was wondering if any one had used a mail order racket restringing service . I live in the lake district with the nerest place to do restringing about 40 miles away 🙁
also thinking of trying another string im a attacking player playing doubles and mixed
Any suggestions much appreciated
Thanks

/discussion-forum/all-other-equipment/which-string-is-suitable-for-smasher/

There's some string/tension info there that might help.

I haven't used mail order restringing but it seems to me that there's a lot of scope for problems, also sounds a little costly.

Try asking at other clubs or Gumtree, every coach I know strings racquets so maybe a search on Badminton Englands site might help.

Thanks Simon
Will check that out.

I normally get my racket restrung when I head down to yonex all England.
Would b great to find some one local. Wouldnt have to choose string solely on durability then

Thanks lee

Sending rackets in the post isn't as expensive as you think as I have done it myself (to get a racket repaired). Just get the right size box, MINIMUM packaging (as it add to the weight, and if it was to get damaged then a bit of bubble wrap is likely to do nowt) and get it recorded or some sort of insurance with it.

Didn't cost me that much in the end.

Try http://www.ukrsa.co.uk/ and email Liam and ask him if he could recommend you someone to send to or even to visit.  This is the racket stringing association so you can't go wrong. Make sure you state that you are after a badminton restring as they do tennis as well (which is the main one for them).

Hope this helps Cool

The biggest issue here apart from the obvious hassle of boxing your beloved racket and taking it to the post office etc is the simple fact that is what if something goes wrong?

now this doesn't mean your racket is lost in the postal system – although i hope you insured your parcel correctly, especially for a high-end racket. the issue for me is the scenario that you have just had your racket returned and within a few shots a string breaks. This does not mean the stringer is at fault of the player, but we all know it happens. I'm not sure about you, but i would be very irate if I'd gone to so much trouble and then not had much play with the racket when the string broke.

At the end of the day, this kind of scenario is not untypical. And, why should the restringer pay? They have done a good job, used quality string, changed the grommetts and yet still something happened. Who would pay all of the postage costs then?

I do know of a number of businesses that will string a racket that has been sent my post – heck I've done a few myself in the past. But, there has to be some common sense about the risks here too.

thanks for all your help on the issue

I have managed to locate someone about 20 miles from where i live who will restring my racket for £15 Laugh

He uses rab tour pro strings but said i can provide my own if i like. was thinking of giving these rab strings a try

was wondering if anyone had heard of these strings or played with them, because cant find much on the internet about them only that they are a high repulsion string

many thanks lee

RAB tour strings are OK but I would suggest you get hold of a few sets of Yonex strings or similar and have the stringer put these in your racket.

I am pleased you have found a local stringer and hope they turn out to be a good one for you.

Perhaps I'm to conservative, but when it comes to buy goods I prefere the Roman style of merchandising: he gives me goods, I pay him cash. He says “thanks”, I say “see you next time”. Period. It creates a band; whenever I see him on tournaments, we shake hands, we talk, … Mail, post: your just a number. There's no face. If your nearest stringer is located too far, and if your budget permits it; take 2 rackets and use them randomly. If you use a new type of strings on one racket, it will be easier to compare.

All the best, ED

I have used Ultimax all last season and liked it. However I now use BG80 Power as I felt it had more to offer. Mind you I also love BG65Ti because it is a more durable string.

Please remember that most of the time I am feeding shuttles and demonstrating rather than playing so string lasts me a little longer. I do mind huge drops in tension and I haven't had this with any yonex string. Sure there is some loss but I can live with that.
