Thanks for the advice. I love playing with feathered shuttles, the feel of a feathered shuttle is unbeatable. However, at times I find it a hassle to find a good shuttle and it's nice when you don't have to change shuttles during a match.

I'll try 21/22 lbs (9.5-10 kg) and see how it works out. The Nanogy95 and the BG65Ti look good for what I'm going for, though I'm tempted to try out the BG68Ti as well.

Once again, thanks for the advice.

Hmmm, I wrote a lengthy reply last night to this post but it seems to have disappeared. Haven't time to re-write it all again so the gist of it was, I wouldn't bother with the Nanogy 95, never found anyone who liked the string, nothing special. As for the BG68Ti, I have tried this once before and it's great for like, a club night or two but then completely fades as is a bit pants. BG65Ti is your best bet and 21/22lb would be a good starting point.

If you want to try another string, you could try BG80 and see how you get on with that, although this is slowly getting phased out with the BG66UM and soon to be available BG80 Power, both of those strings are similar to BG80 so you will know what you will be getting.

Hope this helps, and as always, let us know how you got on! Cool

I see. Thanks for the input! I will probably go to the shop next tuesday. I'll share my experiences.

I really don't have a lot of experiences with strings and tensions. The club I used to go to was a local one where people were of the opinion that equipment doesn't really matter all that much and therefore didn't pay any attention to it. I'm not trying to blame anything on my old club, I've had wonderful years there and they're great people, but the mentality kinda sticks with you.

Alright, I just came back from the club and I'll quickly share my experiences.

Last wednesday I went to the shop, and the vendor convinced me that the BG65Ti is best for people who easily break their strings on a high tension. He told me that judging by my strings, I didn't really do anything strange with my racket and he advised me to give the BG80 a try.  I did and told him to string it to 10Kg (around 22.5 lbs), he agreed that that was a good tension when I'm still using nylon as well as feathered shuttles.

Then I got the racket back and I immediately got a nice feeling. It really looked like he did a really good job and the racket looked brand new again.
This evening I gave the string a try (with nylon shuttles) and by god it feels great! I have never played badminton with this feeling before. Usually I make a lot of mistakes during my game and this new string and tension greatly reduced the amount of mistakes and greatly improved my accuracy. Every touch, every shot is clear and even if I put it in a little power, the shuttle won't fall to the ground because it got stuck on my racket. I immediately noticed an increase in my doubles serve, control, drives, dropshots and smashes.

I have never experimented with string tension and strings before, but after tonight I keep questioning myself why. Wow, this string and tension make a difference!

Kerghan

That's fantastic feedback – thank you. I wish more players tested string and tension and noted the difference to their game.
