I'm still a big fan onf BG65 although prefer the Ti version. There are many pro players who still insist on BG65 over anything else.

So, I used to have the BG80 at 10kg (22Lbs) for one and a half year and I had no issues. Last week I got a BG66UM also at 10kgs and today I broke my string by a single smash outside of the sweet spot (top).

I really really loved the string BG66UM, the sound and the repulsion is marvelous however I'm really annoyed by the strings durability.
Is the string BG66UM really that undurable or was that just bad luck?

I'm thinking of going back to the BG80 again, or the BG80P but that one has to be ordered by the vendor. They currently only have it as a roll.

I also have had my voltric 80 restrung about 3 weeks ago wiith bg66u at 22lb. Its a wonderful string. Had a few miss hits with it and the string has held up. Sounds like u have been a bit unlucky.
Have heard the string starts to feel a bit dead after a bit of playing but I havent noticed that yet.

It does sound like bad luck. I have used BG66UM at 24lbs and found it to be similar to BG80, but slightly thinner and durability slightly (but only slightly) less than the BG80.

Without wanting to open a can of worms, but it could be the stringer and not the string?

I am currently using BG80 Power and it has slightly better durability than BG80 but it seems to have something missing. The annoying thing is, I have a huge roll of BG80 Power to use up but I would like to go back to BG80 but don't think I will find a way of selling the BG80 Power Confused

Also, from what others have said, and what I think as well, but BG80 works best at 24lbs or higher. I tried it at 23lbs once and it felt completely different. That said, if you are happy at 22lb, do you really want to change anything? Why fix something that's not broken etc etc.

I think you may have suffered bad luck for your string to snap so soon. As Peter said, without opening a can of worms, it could be the stringer missed something e.g. a broken grommett as i wouldn't expect them to restring the racket incorrectly – although I have seen it happen before.

I have used Ultimax for some time and always felt it played very well indeed. I am currently using BG80 Power and absolutely love it. But, it isn't everyone's choice and you'll always find that string choice is as personal as racket choice. You have to test to find what works best for you with the current racket of your choice. Sadly, when you change racket you really need to re-test to find the optimum string/tension combination again.
