Hi,
Had the opportunity to go to finals day at the All England National Championships at the StadiumMK today.
Had a great time and really enjoyed some quality badminton. Took a few snaps for you to enjoy (or not)!
Also had the opportunity to meet fellow forum member Chen – a real pleasure to meet you sir and I hope you enjoyed the games as much as I did.
Regards
John

Nice pictures John!
How'd you get so close (even with a zoom), were you on the front row or were you a line judge?
I meant to check out the email that BE sent about free streaming for today' event. Never mind, I hope there was a decent turn out to watch.

Peter,
The spectators could walk alongside the courts before and after the games. I was om the third row and just nipped down with the press pack to take some snaps – would have been better if I had taken my big flash gun!
The players were wandering around the lobby area too so you could stop and chat/congratulate and commiserate as appropriate.

Paul,
Yes Chen was really nice and I wish I had more time to chat with him..as it was I'd abandoned wife and friends for quite a while!!
Village idiot! LOL – yes there were some comedy moments…the best one was not him and the crowd but when he received serve from Gabby Adcock – she delivered a peach of a flick serve that left him rooted to the front line as the shuttle landed behind him – great disguise from her; she is definitely filling the void left by Gail Emms.

Hi John, it was great to meet you too! Luckily you had a profile pic up on the forum so I recognised you, which I guess I should sort out too 🙂
Yeah I'm sure we could have talked badminton for ages had it not been for the alternative of watching some world class badminton!
I liked how close the seating was and that you can walk alongside the courts. The only thing I wasn't so keen on was the hard plastic seats. I debated on taking my 6 year old son but he would have been fidgeting after half an hour.
I have a very similar photo of the Adcocks – it was nice of them to pose for that. Actually I went a bit snap happy and took too many photos which I haven't sorted out yet. Here are 3 pics of the mens doubles match though:
Andy Ellis jump smashing:
Then a couple of funny ones, with Andy Ellis leaning on an invisible wall:
And being held back by an invisible harness lol:

Hi Chen,
The seating was not too comfortable!! It was also quite chilly in the arena…glad I had some thermals on (I'd had been warned about the temperature by some friends who were there on Saturday).
Just to add to your photographs – in your second picture on the left hand side there are two empty seats in the first two rows…I am sitting in the third row with my wife and son!!
It was a good tournament and I am looking forward to next year already.
Regards
John

Thanks for the pictures and the reports, always interesting to hear it first hand from people attending these events.
I didn't manage to get organised enough to attend myself but I did catch some of it on the online stream, unfortunately it was like stepping back 10 years and something of a slide show even at using the lowest 240 image quality setting.
I hope BAE (or whoever are responsible for the streaming aspect) look to improve this as compared to the (mostly) good BWF coverage it looked very poor. Something like 480p or even 360p streaming smoothly would have made this very watchable, here's hoping they make it available somewhere for later viewing.
It was still an entertaining watch even if the eyes felt a little strained after an hour or so and the XD match at the end was entertaining for the previously mentioned flick on Langridge alone.
