Hi everyone,

What do people think of the ArcSaber Z-slash badminton racket, as I can acquire one for less than £80 and I was thinking of selling them. I also plan on using one, but I'm not sure so I was wondering what you lot think.

The ArcSaber Z-slash is a quality product from a top manufacturer and retailing it to you at £80 seems too good to be true. These rackets sell at around £150 on well respected websites and I think that says it all. If it seems too good to be true it probably is. My advice is that unless you can trace the supply chain back to Yonex don't touch it with a barge pole. I'm sure that Paul, having tested the Z-Slash and working closely with reputable retailers,  will have a few things to say on the subject.

I would say that will be a fake at that price. Also if you sell a fake product you could land yourself in hot water if you are selling it as the genuine article. As Rogerh said, if it seems to good to be true……

I would also add that now isn't the time to be considering selling this racket as it's my guess that the racket will soon be withdrawn. To be clear, I have no word from Yonex about this, it's just my hunch that the racket will disappear by the end of the year or next year.

The reason for this is simple. The racket has been a huge success albeit it's met with a fair amount of criticism because of the timing issues – I'm one of those although I really liked the racket. Very few international players are using Z Slash which means it's no longer a cash cow and has become a fading star.

So unless Yonex is going to do something special with this racket I believe it now has a limited shelf life.

If a non-authorised seller is getting these rackets at rediculously knock down prices then I have to caution you regarding the validity of the deal. Second, if you are bringing the rackets into UK illegally then you are asking for trouble. If not, the next danger is that you cannot offer any warranty as Yonex UK will not honour them unless they are sold through a genuine Yonex dealer.

Sometimes the making a quick buck opportunity is just not worth the risk. If the rackets are fake, then you can be arrested for selling goods as the genuine article which is tantamount to fraud. If they are real, then so few players will buy them because they are clearly yesterdays news and there are better rackets to tempt most players. Of course, somebody will want to deal but you're going to have to search carefully.

Please also remember that Yonex regularly watch ebay and generally will be after any seller they believe is selling fake rackets.

Please make your own decision but accept the fact that the risks are high whichever route you take.

Paul

I’m not sure about the UK, but on occasion there are desperation sales that go on in my area and good deals can be had. For example I bought my brand new MX-JJS for $175CAD and sold it for $150CAD.
And used Vt-ZF can go as low as $150, BS-LYD as low as $130, MX-80 as low as $100.

Plus the Z-Slash is old news like mentioned above so it could be possible.

I used to have a load of them, they were the best rackets I've ever used but unfortunately i had to change. The only problem for me was that i broke 4 in 2 years, which is likely to put you off but i play twice a day. I sold my remaining ones, second hand for £50 each. So if the one you're looking to buy is new, i would definitely go for it.

Can I ask in how playing twice a day makes your racket break so often? Do you hit the floor with it at least twice a day as well? Surprised

Laugh

Genuine question by the way.

P.S. And welcome to the forum Smile

That is indeed very strange.  I had my Z-slash for almost half a year now and it's still in great shape.
Do you have them stringed at the recommended tension?  If so there might be warranty coverage?
