Hi Paul,
I want to ask: what is the best racquet to use for an offensive player?
I’m going to save some money and buy a really good racquet this year. If I were to use the Yonex Armortec series, which racquet would you suggest best? Armortec 900 power, Armortec 900 technique, or Armortec 700? There are also other racquet series that are often used by top players like the Arcsaber and Nanospeed. Now, there is a new series of racquet used by the China international team, Li-Ning. I heard that Li-Ning racquets can reach a very high string tension.
What is your opinion, Paul?
Best Regards,
Lancer

Hi Lancer
All the rackets you mention are very good. The AT900 Power should give you more than
the technique but I’ve seen many players use the technique who hit the shuttle hard. You need to try them and see what feels good to you. You may pick up one racket, have a few hits and not like it. It means it’s not for you. Another racket may feel great and you return to it time and again- that’s the one.
Be careful about exceptional string tensions. Unless your technique is close to perfect like the pros, a highly strung racket will cause more trouble. You run the risk of serious injury to your elbow or shoulder so please be aware of this.
I read a lot on the forums and it seems that virtually everyone must be a pro having rackets strung at 27lbs or more. I have pretty good technique and my rackets are strung at 23lbs. I don’t need to go any higher than that and I can get all I need from my racket. Just because a racket is advertised to take high tensions doesn’t mean you need to string it to the maximum. After all, you can drive a car that will go at 200mph. But, are you capable of driving the car
safely at these top speeds or in danger of hurting yourself and others?
Hope this helps Lancer.
Paul
