Hi, just wondering if anyone knows of any reps or manufacturers who give out bags of demo rackets for testing on club nights.  Just recently we have had a few players return to the game after 10+ off and some racket breakages.  It would be really good to try out bats before we buy.  We used to have a pro kennex rep come round about 20 years ago and virtually everyone in the club had a PK racket at the time, even if they didn't buy on the night when they broke their racket they knew which PK one was right for them so they got the sale eventually!!  We have between 20 and 30 players turn up every week and it would be good to try before we buy.  I searched high and low to see if I could find somewhere that offered this service but can't find anything. Booking someone to come over to the Isle of Wight it's a big ask, but maybe someone could send a demo bag over if we pay a deposit?

Many thanks for your enquiry.

Have you thought of combining a demo session with coaching? I have a full demo bag of Victor rackets which I take to clubs and events.

Next week I am travelling to Aberystwyth University for a combined session on Friday night and all day Saturday. I am really looking forward to the sessions.

It's possible I could visit and bring my demo bag too. Aside from that I do not expect to receive special permission to send my bag of rackets because of the value of the cargo. I'll do my best but it is preferable to combine the two if there is enough interest?

Also, we have to take into consideration travel from Cheshire, Is there a flight to Isle of Wight from Manchester/Liverpool as travelling South to catch the ferry would be a terribly long journey.

Thanks Paul, no flights I'm afraid, just the ferry when the wind dies down a bit!!

I'll ask at club re combined demo/coaching session, we do have a few trained coaches but only a Sports Direct and a small independent sports shop that stock a very small selection of rackets, none of which you can try before you buy!!

Cool

It's a pity but with the best will in the world, this is perhaps a journey too far for a demo session. Even with coaching it's asking too much of all parties.

Maybe there is another way. I'm not sure if this will work but perhaps it is worth ascertaining where the budgets lie for new rackets and report back to me e.g. if you tell me that players are interested in any racket under retail £100, then this opens up the possibilities of sending part of the range I have rather than all of it.

Chances are I'd need something signing for one person to be responsible for the rackets, checking them and ensuring they are returned in good condition. Potentially you may need to restrict player use to knocking up rather than taking a chance and playing games to avoid collisions.

Have a think first before I begin asking.

The other question I should ask is simple. How many players are there on the isle? How many clubs? The answers may open up other possibilities although at this stage lets collate the data.

I may know this person. Have you been provided with a name?
