Sorry to throw a spanner in the works now but…

From what i know of Z Speed i consider Direct Sports are closer to the correct specs. The official spec is way off because this is not a head light racket as everyone expected. There's numerous rumblings in the market, some good and some bad regards the specs on this racket.

Generally Direct Sports are spot on. They weigh and test each racket so they know what they're talking about. They are one of few retailers who go to such lengths. Central Sports and others may take the official specs but these have been known to be off before.

Measuring balance point on the shaft will provide sufficient guidance regards the head weight spec. Direct Sports do this so I am so much more inclined to believe them.

Lee if you're looking for an even balanced racket then there are so many to choose from. Go on the racket selector and see the list of rackets available with the spec you require. I've found it to be very helpful.

Whenever I review a racket I now weigh and take the balance point. Whilst doing this may not change what i say about the racket there have been occasions when I disagree with spec. This is because some manufacturers weigh the racket without strings and sometimes the grip. These are two essential elements and have a huge impact on the overall weight of the racket.

There seems to be so much credibility placed on racket weight but when some players use 1-2 grips and sometimes lead tape, then what's the point? If the racket feels right to you then that's all you should worry about.

Just tried it out and its a great tool to use for narrowing your search

I'm still awaiting the realise of the Victor Bravesword Lee Hyun IL racquet in this country. It sounds a great racquet.

Lee

Bravesword LHI will be released in a week or so. Stocks are arriving in Germany this week so the racket should be available next week. Check with Badminton Base for further updates but I'm pretty sure my infomration is correct.

If you go through the Z-Speed thread over on the Badminton Central forums, there are a bunch of mini-reviews (some of which are actually quite detailed).

I expect to be testing this racket within 2 weeks.

I've read some of the reviews online. How confusing. A Nanoray that is even balance, head heavy, super fast? It seems that either Yonex has created a morphing hybrid or something is not quite right with some of these reviews.

I'm excited to be testing this racket and will quickly present my review thereafter. Hopefully sense will prevail and we'll discover what it really is and can do. I am expecting great things from this racket.

Despite me moving sponsor, I have not instantly turned into a Yonex hater. I still love the brand and will continue to test and review their rackets. Please remember that my website is not owned or controlled by any sponsor. I give my sponsor priority and advertising space and that is it. I am free to say exactly what I want and if I believe a product is below par then I will say so.

Just to comment – I gave this rackets a go recently. Some points I found:

Clearing was extremely easy!

I have never hit a forehand drive with so much power!

I found it difficult to time my smash.

I found every overhead backhand was NOT crisp enough/not powerful enough.

The racket was not that great in defence.

Now – thats just a snapshot of my thoughts. It seems powerful, but something about it wasn't quite right for me. I got more power in my clears and drives than normal, but its not like my VTZF struggles for power anyway. Even thought he VTZF is heavier, I find its better in defence because you get a very solid contact on the shuttle, whilst the Z speed was a little… anticlimactic.

I would consider trying this racket out again under different conditions/with tighter strings etc! However, I will stick to my VTZF 🙂

The Z-Speed seems to me to be what the Z-Slash should have been in terms of head size. The balance point seems to point to a head heavy racket, even more so than the Voltric 80.
