Hello everyone,

I started playing badminton, about two months ago more for the purpose of fitness. I started with a cheap £10 racquet and after a few weeks moved on to a £25 yonex racket.

I keep getting told that i can not hit faster shots as 'm using a cheap racquet and it'll slow down my progrss.

I need some advice on what racquet to buy. I'll try and provide as much info about my game from my limited experience.

I am super unfit, I enjoy attacking (am not sure if i'm very good at it), i generally play both doubles and singles in every two hour session i have three times a week.

My weaknesses are hitting the shuttle with the frame, not hitting hard enough for a smash, serving out of the boundaries.

I'm generally quite a competitive person and would like to invest in a racquet that will help me improve my game. I feel that lighter racquets seem to be easier to use.

My preferred brand, yonex

I'm from London, England so 'where to buy' would be of great help if the moderator allows such recommendations.

Many thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide Laugh

Hey zoi,

I'm by no means a professional, but I'll throw in my 2 cents.  My advice- save your money, work on your technique/ get coaching.  A new racket isn't going to fix your weaknesses at this point.

IMO If you want to buy something, buy yourself a good pair of court shoes.

As for places to shop you'll have to wait for someone else to chime in who may be closer to your area.

Cheers,

Marc

I can help with some good places to shop if you're north of the river, I also know some very good places that coach which might be a better way to go.
