Hi all,
Just a quick comment on the quality of paintwork on my Victor MX60 and TK6000 racquets.
Ive had a few clashes on club nights and every time i check for damage the racquet is in perfect condition, my previous Yonex VT70 and 80 seem to have paint chipping off at the slightest touch.
Just wondered whether it was just me or has anyone else found the same.

Hi Woody

I can't comment on Victor rackets as I don't own any. What I do have is a VT 80 that looks like a lion has been teething on the frame.

Like you I've only had light clashes but the result on the paintwork is appalling. I have to say that I have other Yonex rackets that get the same use but have nowhere near the battle scars of the VT 80. Strange that.

If Yonex are selling a premium product at a price to match then they must excel in all stages of manufacture, including paintwork.

While we're on paint how come, and I know Paul has a beef with this, the logo stencil wears off the strings within a couple of games.

May be the same stuff that they use on the VT frames.

Most of my rackets are in pristine condition. The only time I tend to get a chip on a racket is when I lend it out. I'm amazed how little people of borrowing another persons racket and taking care of it.

For me if you test a racket, don't do it in a game. Just have a very competitive knock up and you'll know if the racket is right for you.

Aside from that the paintwork on my rackets holds up well.

Have to admit, my Yonex Voltic ZF is looking absolutely battered after two seasons and I don't remember too many racket clashes. None of my previous Yonex rackets have ever chipped and marked as badly as the Z-Force…maybe its the matt finish paint!?! Hoping the paintwork on my new Victor TK6000 will fair better – cant wait to have a hit with it!

Rich

Did you mention you had ordered a TK6000?

I hope it lasts longer. I must confess I'm not sure what the manufacturers are doing these days in terms of paint compared to what we have been used to in the past. But, overall rackets mark  a lot easier.

That said, are there changes happening in your game that could be contributing? Are you playing at a higher level, is the opposition tougher, are you partnering players that are not as good and therefore confusion on court leads to clashes?

Hi Paul, I ordered a TK6000 almost immediately after Lilleshall – couldn't resist, having played with one over the weekend. Don't think I've played with a racket that felt that suited to me since my Armortec 600 died… and, as you said, Central Sports were throwing in a free tube of shuttles! Unfortunately almost a month later I still haven't had chance to have a hit with it, need to get a court booked.

So far as the paintwork on my Z-Force goes, I really think its the poor quality of the finish – I'd say I have fewer racket clashes and frame fewer shots than with previous rackets. I'm sure Yonex would claim its some new-fangled light weight paint that wears more easilyWink

Being a little fair to Yonex, I think most manufacturers are paying more attention to paintwork these days and seeking different methods to paint rackets. It could be they are trying to find greener ways to the detriment of long term cosmetic appeal.

It's a shame you haven't played much especially as you like the racket. Good luck with it and I hope it brings you a lot of pleasure.
