Hi everyone,

I’ve been playing badminton just over a 18 months now, and I’ve improved so that I’m now able to play most standard shots with precision which I’m quite proud of, however my old racquet a voltric 5 broke the other day around the frame.

I’m looking at a replacement racquet and I’m looking at a head heavy racquet due to my playing style of attacking in doubles and singles game play. I’ve narrowed down the field of racquets to these two from borrowing other players’ ones and going into racquet shops to try out the different types, stiff – flexible etc … now I’ve tried the voltric 80 and it IS lovely, I had a really good time when I tried it for the first time, however, I’ve not been able to try out the victor lightfighter 7400 as nobody I know owns one. My friend who owns the voltric 80 is willing to part with it, btw this is an old 80 before the e-tune stuff.

I was wondering as these are similar racquets, ‘I believe’ people may have tried both, which you would recommend to an improving player who’s main issue is timing of shots.

Also on a side note, I was wondering on your thoughts of string durability vs performance, I’ve heard the zymax 70 has no comprimises and is excellent in both?

Many thanks hope to hear from anyone soon.

David

VT80 is a superb racket although can be a little stiff for some. Ashaway have a great range and 1200 is really good.

Also try Victor Thruster 9000

recently I saw a very good deal of 2 used VT80 on ebay, so I took the chance and upgraded from my VT5/VT7. I was worried it would be too stiff and head-heavy for me, however to my surprise I find that I am very happy with VT80. Perhaps having played with VT7 for a year changed my hitting action a bit.

Hi Tony

Yes, VT80 is an excellent upgrade to VT7, if you can handle the additional stiffness of the frame. VT80 will remain one of my favourite rackets.
