I have used a 3g 3u yonex vt80 for a few months and then purchased a japanese version 4g 4u vt80 from a friend which i immediately found different in balance and much better suited for me – far better swings and defense, far more agile.
In comparison with the 3u version, the 4u felt far less head heavy (although the specification is still “head heavy”) and yet I still managed great smashes with less resulting arm pain than in the case of using the 3u version.
Unfotunately during a recent match of doubles i managed to break it and now I realised that I cant really find one in UK from a reliable source (to avoid buying a fake) as all models available from reputable vendors are 3g 3u…
Can anyone advise what other rackets from the yonex range I should be looking at in order to get a good balance of power and agility? The head heavyness of the VT80 (3u) I have left is too much for me although im quite big and have some power in my arm.
I am currently considering the z slash and the nanotech 9900… Its ashame the VT80 (4u) is not available in UK, I believe many would find it quite amazing.

This is a tough question.
The difficulty we have in UK is that we have very limited offerings. That said, the current Yonex range is around 35 racquets which I consider to be too many. If Yonex was to stock different weights and grip sizes it would cost a fortune.
I have questioned in the past whether Yonex are getting it right in UK. We are deemed to have larger hands and therefore grip sizes are chosen on that premise – I’m not sure whether I agree with it. I would think most players would prefer a smaller grip and then build to suit.
Weight variances is a different matter. I constantly hear from players who have had the luxury of using a lighter model in the range saying how much better it is to our standard 3U. I’ve not had the chance to compare so can’t comment but would love to have a go.
From what you’re saying you’re now not happy with the Voltric 80. Before you contemplate yet another racquet purchase, have you spend some time doing my armchair exercises? If not, give them a go for a week or so and then let me know how you’re feeling about your racquet. Continue doing the exercises though as they really do improve your strength.
Once you’ve tested this I’ll gladly discuss your choices.

I own a (broken) 3G4U AT900PLCW and I believe that's the perfect racquet in terms of weight and grip size for me. 3G is just too big for me to put my favorite grip AC-420 on but with 4G it's perfect. But I also don't want to miss out on the extra weight that 3U offers, it's quite noticeable in terms of power.
To answer your question, you could order such a 4G4U Voltric in the Internet if you want to…

Merry Christmas! And thanks for the shop info.
I did a lot of strengh building on my right arm using the armchair exercises, things have definitely improved.
I had the chance to try the zslash and the 9900 – both were impressive. The zslash is amazing (powerful and agile) but I did quite a lot of frame hits. Also, I found it lacking feel for the more subtle netshots in comparison to a much cheaper Carlton Vapour Trail…
The vt80 3u is too heavy for my game of doubles – still, but maybe things can change. I love everything about this racket except for the head weight. For singles is perfect but not for doubles…
I have a new interest in more modest rackets that assist your shots with a lot of feel – like some wilson and carlton.
All the best.
