Hi,

I have a 12 year old son who is very interested in badminton. I do play with him, but it is unstructured and he hasn't got the right technique. I myself haven't played badminton much so really can't coach him. I am looking for badminton coaches ideally around Chandlers Ford/Eastleigh but willing to travel to Southampton and surrounding areas. Please let me know if there are any good coaches or coaching centres available in and around Chandlers Ford area. I can't afford 1 to 1 sessions, so I am looking for group coaching.

Thank you,

Siva

Hi Siva,

I can't recommend anything specific as i don't live near you, but it may be worth having a look on the Badminton England website. They should be able to point you in the direction of your local contact for coaches.

Agreed

Go to Badminton England website and find the Regional Coordinator for your Region. They will know more about badminton in your area.

Good luck.

Hi,

There are some really good clubs/coaches in the Eastleigh area. I believe there are several clubs that play at Fleming Park.  Further afield you should consider going to the Westgate Centre in Winchester – even if it is just to visit – go on a Saturday morning and watch the juniors being coached! Link: http://www.westgatebadmintonce…..tre.co.uk/

The local Badminton England rep is called Blake Simmons – don't have his email address to hand.

Regards

John

If you are looking for group sessions there is always the Bournemouth Performance Centre, which is basically a pool of coaches in the general area teaching group sessions to juniors. http://www.bournemouthperforma…..ntre.co.uk

Yes, John! I have been to some of the clubs in the area and I must say the coaches are great.

Recently, I have visited Fleming Park Leisure Centre, Passfield Avenue. I guess the starting time is from 8 PM.
