Yes, I’ve been there, done that and worn the T shirt.

When you reach this level, you’re generally playing club or league badminton and may have aspirations to work up the teams. You then have the problem of getting better results and usually a need to find a better partner to help you do that!

Well, the results have to come from you. If you focus elsewhere, then you’re hampering your progress. Initially your focus needs to be continuing to improve the basics. Make sure you serve well, receive well, and develop your backhand and attack so that you do not gift too many points by popping up the half-court lifts from your backhand.

Becoming a more advanced player is first of all about ensuring the foundation skills are better. Better players play the game at a faster pace so simple things like grip changes will catch you out if you do not practice them.

Whilst the higher teams may seem a long way off for you right now, think about your development as you would your driving lessons whenever that was. When you first sat behind the wheel you may have been thinking “there is no way I’m going to remember all of this.” But your skilled coach (driving instructor) had a system that slowly layered the information and built on your skills, until you passed your test.

That’s what I aim to do in the not-too-distant future. I’m looking to have a program that will help you move faster than you thought possible through the skills, techniques and tactics of this great game, so that you can enjoy your badminton at whatever level you choose to play.

For now, please post your questions, request for videos and let’s get started on this journey together.

Paul
