An excellent thread. I too have trouble getting good consistent returns. Sometimes I get in to my receiving position, I think, yep I am ready… they serve then I find actually I was not really mentally switched on to that at all! I like the variety of returns suggested here however often I find I don't quite have the racket skills to get it to certain positions and find that the server can start predicting my returns or I end up hoofing it up to the back when really there should have been a better option. I think some of this is the worry that if I commit to getting to the low serve early that I will be caught out with the flick. However on the occasions that I do do a good return it is amazing how destructive just something like a simple push to the mid trams can be.

Any tips on being ready for both attacking low and getting to good flick serves?
