Greetings all!

Firstly: Thanks paul for such a fantastic set of articles. In particular i enjoyed reading the articles regarding “slow” shuttles as this is something I am constantly feeling affects my game, whereas everyone else I play with seems not to notice, even when I walk from one hall to test the shuttle and it flies the correct distance, and then I move to the next hall with the same shuttle and it flies a meter shorter! Very frustrating and its good to know its not just me! I have fetched my old armortec 250, the heaviest racket I own, and fitted it with the thickest and loosest strings I could bear to combat these annoying venues, and so far it seems to be doing the trick!

Secondly: With regard to serving in mens doubles, you are so correct about practicing the serving (and returns, but I was always ok with those)! I spent about 6 months practicing my serve – on the verge of tears for many of those practice sessions! I always used to suffer with nerves and inconsistency! Not any more! To anybody that has a nervous short serve: fix it ASAP! Now i am constantly thanked by my partner for setting him up with attacking opportunities!

Look forward to reading all your articles to come!

And to the community here… HELLO!

Matt

Hi Matt

Welcome and thanks for your comments. I hope you continue to contribute to the forum because I feel we’re getting a lot of readers and very few writers!

I totally agree about practising your serve. Unless you’ve got a consistently brilliant serve you should practise. Pros spend hours on their serve because they understand how important it is.

Pros in general do not like training. However, there is one thing they all hate more than training – LOSING! That’s why they train so hard.

I’m looking forward to reading your comments in the future.

Paul
