Hi Paul & Everybody,

I've been silent reader of this site since a month now and must say it has great content with all people who wants to share their experience. Good Stuff !!!

I'm from Bangalore, India and have been playing social badminton since last 2 years. I almost play 5-6 days a week. The group that I play with are also at similar level and some are better ofcourse. I usually play doubles with nylon shuttle (Yonex 350). Currently I'm using two racquets Yonex Muscle Power 22 and Carlton Airblade (Ti) which I bougth it during my UK visit, beautiful country btw. Both these racquets are strung at 22 lbs with Yonex BG 65.

About my experience, I started playing this beautiful game 2 years back which something like this I have not done in 10 years. But after a month or so I started having lot injuries and finally had to see an orthopadic and had to undergo some physio therapy. Well then I realize I'm 36 now and not as flexible and energetic as I was 10 years back. But I didn't gave up and continued playing with little care. Down the line 5 months of playing I could see my game had improved a lot but beyond that I didn't see much of the improvement. I was disappointed and started feeling boring playing with same group and incosistency in my game. Then I started “googling” and found lot good videos on youtube and downloaded lot of training material, this created again an interest in the game and started learning new techniques to adopt. The best part of badminton I like is to execute the deceptive shots in the game specially when you succeed. 🙂 !!! The hunger to improve my game kept increasing but my body wouldn't support. Then with the help of Doc, he suggested me to strengthen my muscle by doing light Gym exercise (light weight, trademills etc), I followed it and it is helping me to improve the game, and I'm still learning….

The reason I'm here to get more information as I believe that I could have done better with the amount of badminton I play. And I guess this will be a right forum and people who can assist. Great going guys and looking forward for your support !!!

Also to mention that my kid who was 3 years old when started playing with me is also now (5 years) a good hitter of the shuttle and he loves his Carlton bat…he plays drops, clears and at times back hand. He is also good at low services both fore arm and backhand. I luv to play with him and infact practicing with him has taught me a lot as I try my shots he tries his ;)…I can say he is the coach…

Regards

Tariq
