Hi Iam

Welcome to the forum.

There are so many good strings to choose from. Most players tend to favour Yonex branded strings however there are also many others such as Ashaway, Victor, Gosen, Li Ning that all make decent strings.

If I was to consider a top 5 strings putting aside my sponsorship with Victor and therefore I will simply remove this brand even though they make excellent string I would suggest the following

Yonex BG80 – one of the most favoured strings in the world although at 0.68 gauge it is subject to breakage
Yonex BG65Ti – again very popular and tend to last longer
Yonex BG65 – personal choice between this and the Ti coated version.
Yonex Bg66 Ultimax – a thinner gauge but again subject to breakage.
Ashaway Zymax 67 – or 70 excellent tension holding and very popular worldwide.

Personally I favour Victor VS800 which is used by all of the Chinese Taipei international team.

If I was you I would begin with a more durable string like BG65 and then experiment with tension to find the right tension for you. Then test different strings at this tension. Once you find the string that you like the feel of, experiment again with tension.

Good luck

Paul
