First of all, I would like to express my feeling toward this web site of Paul. It is a very informative and professional web site for Badminton fan like me.
Hi, Paul and everyone, I am 39 year old, been very active in playing badminton when i was 14 – 16 year old and joined national team and trained by professional coach from Indonesia. For some reason, i stop playing badminton for the past twenty year. Recently, one of my relatives pass me two rackets and i started to train myself and play again.
Slow on movement but still strong on forehand. Weak at backhand. Everyday start to skip, train footworks, hitting wall, and wrist exercise using racket with cover. Hope can catch up the old time.
Recently, i brought a Yonex Carbonex 9 SP Tour with BG66 string; 24lbs and Li-Ning HC1100 with BG66; 24 lbs. Finding Carbonex 9 is very heavy but hitting and smash is hard but tired after a while and not good for defence. Meanwhile, Li-ning is very light and is good at defence but weak at smash.
Thus, recently after reading a lot of forum especially Paul's website and decided to buy a AT900 Power. Please advice me of what tension i should used with BG66 with my current status. I was thinking of 22 or 23lbs. Is it advisable? Please advice.
For intermediate lady player using a light racket like Li-Ning HC1100, should i string with BG66 20lbs or 22lbs?
Thanks in advance for your reply.

Welcome to the forum.
I remember Cab 9 very well when it was first introduced. It seems funny that we refer to it as head heavy now as it was one of the lightest racquets on the market in 1980's. My god, I'm getting old!
String tension is as personal as choosing a racquet. Bearing in mind you're from Indonesia, I suspect that anyone you ask there will tell you to go for the higher tensions. It's almost in-built in Asia, whereas in UK, it's more likely you'd be advised to try the lower tensions.
Generally, it's better to start low and then increase your tension as you improve. The better and more consistent you become, the smaller sweetspot on your racquet is required. This means you can safely increase tension and gain more control at the same time.
Hope this helps and thanks for joining the forum. Feel free to ask questions and contribute as much as you like. The more voices we have on the forum, the better it will become.
To your success.
Paul
