My names Owen, a wheelchair Badminton player.
I started playing in 2006 when I was 15 after a teacher at school gave me a flyer about a disabled club that was starting up. At the time I had no interest in Badminton at all so was quite reluctant to actually go along and try it out, but eventually my Dad persuaded me to go and it was certainly for the best!
Since then I've had many fantastic opportunities through Badminton. Been to many places, met so many great people and now I'm even a part of the England Para-Badminton squad!
I have also gotten into coaching a bit over the last year or so. I hope to learn as much as I can to not only improve myself as a player but also as a coach so I can eventually give back to a sport that has helped me so much.
Thank you 🙂
Owen

Owen
Welcome indeed to the forum. I had the good fortune to meet Gobes and Martin last year at All Englands and am looking forward to seeing them again.
Hopefully, you'll bring a unique insight into para badminton on this forum as I haven't any experience of the sport from a wheelchair perspective. I'm going to think on this a little and then perhaps fire lots of questions at you for other forum members to learn from you.

Thank you, feel free to ask anything!
Glad to know that you have met Martin and Gobi before, they are currently our strongest wheelchair players. They came runners up in the Para-Badminton World Championships last November in the mens doubles, losing out to a pair from South Korea.
Even in wheelchairs the sport is mainly dominated by the Asian countries!

Welcome to the forum OwenK90.
You bring an interesting insight to something that I've never thought about (badminton wise). I look forward to your ideas and stories.
Thought I better do some research on something I know completely nothing about, and I see you are quite a star!
Also, when you type Para-Badminton into Google, on the images result there's a picture of your profile picture! Nice work!
