You now really understand how important testing is to find exactly the right racket for you. I'm delighted for you!

Yes indeed Paul Smile.  It's interesting to see my shortlist before I started down the path of testing (I was looking at the Voltrics and head heavy racquets, believing that it would help me generate more oomph) but my final shortlist looks unrecognisable now (medium stiff / medium balance).  I tried to think through the logic/science there and I guess my style is that I'm fast but not poweful??  So in other words, I can move a racquet through the air quickly but only if it's lighter/more flexible as I don't have the raw strength to do that with a head heavy/stiffer racquet.

In any case, now I know what I what to look for in future racquets and it should reduce the amount of testing I need to do, though I must say I've really enjoyed the journey – I think I started hunting around since March when I first contacted you about the residential training courses!

I would definitely recommend everyone to test some racquets before you commit to buying if you can!

Well I've had my demo today with Victor. Ben brought down a huge selection and to be honest it was a great experience trying the different rackets. The quality is undeniable and after around two hours of play it came down to two. The TK6000 and the JJS……….

So I bought both. Two 6000's and a JJS. Now to tell the wife……… The feel and the power that came from the 6000 from the back of the court was simply amazing, however the touch of the JJS around the net was just superior. I just couldn't decide, despite telling myself I wanted a couple of identical rackets in my bag for consistency and upgrade my old stock of rackets that should have been made redundant a while back, but just couldn't commit to just one.

I'm trying to remember what else I tried. Bravesword 11, 12 and LHI, Meteor MX60 & MX70 and the TK8000.

Massive thanks to Ben who offered good advice and has the patience of a saint. I'm now like a kid waiting for Christmas to arrive.

Bob

Delighted you had such a good day.

I am frequently running demo sessions for Victor here in Lancashire, Cheshire, Greater Manchester and it's been such a pleasure to watch the players faces discovering Victor rackets and their quality. I've seen so many players purchase immediately although I do not carry stock of new rackets and point the players to the retailers.

Victor are quickly expanding in UK and I expect to see a lot of great products from them next year. New rackets, shoes, clothing will be available pre-All Englands and with a bit of luck you will be able to purchase the shirts the players are wearing! How cool is that.

Enjoy your TK6000 and JJS, they really are awesome rackets and deserve far more attention.

Glad you found your replacement (s) Bob and hope the missus is still speaking.

Given the cost of a high end racket these days a hit with a demo is a must for avoiding what may be an expensive mistake.

I was in the market a few moths ago and was due to attend a coaching seminar organised by a Yonex retailer.

I knew there were going to be loads of demos to try so, I did my research, and duly settled on a short list.

The day arrived and, you've guessed it, I came away with a Nanoray700RP and Nanoray's didn't even make the list.

While it's true some players can pick up virtually any old racket and give somebody a game I think that you can only play your very best if you LOVE your racket. I love mine and I'd encourage anyone to seek out demos, even if you have to travel a bit it's well worth it.

Roger

I've seen this happen so many times when I've run demo sessions. Players telling me what they like and then settling on a racket that occassionally was a complete opposite of the spec they gave me.

I agree that testing is the best way and I'm currently heading up a demo testing scheme at Victor. We're just about to launch in Scotland and will soon be in Hertfordshire and Surrey with a bit of luck.

Any player wishing to test Victor rackets needs to click on the link on http://www.victor-sport.co.uk

Played again with the JJS last night, both net practice and smashing from the rear of the court. Total control at the net and so good at the back. It’s probably 15 years or more since I treated myself to a proper, decent racket and now I’m so glad I did. Now Victor…… where’s my TK6000’s???

Glad you're enjoying JJS racket so much.

TK6000 is sold out and new stocks should be arriving any day. I have a number on back order myself. The racket has been so successful it's surprised Victor Europe. Being fair with any new racket first orders are smaller as there are no guarantees the racket will sell. Surprisingly TK6000 caught us all by surprise and simply flew out!

Let's hope we'll receive our trusty new rackets within the next week or two.

Hi everyone 🙂

I've just recently decided to register with the forum as I enjoy reading and digesting all of the advise given from one member to another. I started playing badminton when I was 18 however I lost the enjoyment of playing and give it all up. After 11 years, I started to play again last year and now I'm back playing 3-4 times a week. I still play with my Carlton Airblade 800 (which I bought second hand) and recently (October) I had BS 12 bought for me as a birthday present  from my other half and my parents. I found the racket exceptionally well balanced and I can only thank Paul's Review for all the specs 🙂

Hi Rizky,

Good to see you on here! There is a post regarding slippery floors in league matches you might be interested in – especially after Wednesday night at Hamble; I struggled all night to get a foothold on the floor and I could see you sliding too.

Anyhow, welcome to the forum – hopefully I will see you Monday night where we can perhaps play together again.

Regards

John Smile
