My how time flies!

I rarely post on Paul's corner and should use it more often to convey messages to forum members. But, I'm usually so busy responding to other posts and of course, they take priority.

Moving on…

I will again be attending All Englands in March which as usual, is being held in Birmingham. It's likely I will be there during the earlier rounds, possibly Tuesday – Thursday although cannot commit to which days yet. I won't be in Birmingham on Friday for quarter finals day but will return on Saturday for semi finals day. I won't be there for the finals.

This is going to be a very strange All England for me as it's the first time I have ever been to this event as a non-Yonex coach.

I hope you let me know if you're going and if you do see me watching a game or walking around the venue, then please do say hello. I really enjoy meeting up with my readers and forum members.

I'm undecided to whether to go yet. Haven't been for a couple of years. Mind you, money is a bit tight so I'll have to have a think on it. But if I do go, I'll be sure to pester you at some point Paul Laugh

There are a few of us going on the Tuesday so hopefully we might get to meet! Looking forward to watching some good badminton. I am visiting the National Badminton Centre next week on an open day for coaches – looking forward to an interesting day!

Kind regards

John

I will also be at Milton Keynes next week so look forward to meeting you then.

Peter, I know how little money lasts with a young family. If you're going to Birmingham I'm sure you will let me know.

Great.

I'll be walking around at some stage but don't expect to get to my seat until the last minute as there's always meetings and people to say hello to.

As I will not be going to Milton Keynes due to prior commitments so I would be grateful for any feedback from Paul and John and anyone else attending.

It's my understanding that BE are looking to sharpen their act regarding all aspects of coaching. Let's hope this is so as their support, particularly at grass roots. has been lamentable.

As we know, particularity from this website, good communication and exchange of ideas is vital in promoting coach and player improvement.

One way to enable this would be to overhaul the Coach Zone. The last post was over 6 months ago and you can almost see the tumble weed drifting through it.

What it needs is top BE coaches being more proactive particularly on the forum, much as Paul is on this one, forwarding ideas and stimulating discussion.

I hope it's a rewarding day and look forward to any reports.

Hi Roger,

Will do. I was looking forward to getting access to the Coach Zone; bit of a disappointment!! I value this site very highly as we have a number of great contributors who are willing to share their ideas.

Looking forward to meeting the great man himself!

Regards

John

LOL – John. I haven't a clue who you're talking about.

For me there is always something to learn at All Englands. There's the different styles, watching games where you can see the tactics and sometimes put your head in your hands when a player gets it wrong.

I like the opportunity to watch the earlier rounds where you begin to see the difference in class between the best and others.
